A Community Workshop was held at the Greenwood Public Library on September 12, 2023. The workshop was open to all members of the community and had over 100 people in attendance who participated in various exercises. The goal of the meeting was to begin identifying Greenwood’s future challenges and opportunities based on public perception, as well as how residents and businesses who like the city to grow in the next 20 years. The process to create the Greenwood Comprehensive Plan has involved various community engagement events, ranging from small focus group discussions to workshops open to all Greenwood residents. What is the Greenwood Comprehensive Plan?
The City of Greenwood has started a process to create a new comprehensive plan. The plan will serve as a “blueprint for the future” and align with the City’s Four Pillars: Public Safety, Infrastructure, Economic Development and Quality of Life. The comprehensive plan is an important document that will help City leaders, staff, boards, and commissions make informed decisions regarding future development and redevelopment and guide investment across the community for years to come. The goal of this planning process is to ensure Greenwood remains attractive and desirable to existing residents and businesses as well as create opportunities to attract new ones. This plan will be based on community input and there will be a number of engagement opportunities throughout the process.
